Floor PortraitsThe Floor Portraits are born from the idea to create photos with the observer as first person. It does not portrait a him or her, the observer is in the centre of the photo. Description of the installation; On the wall are photo's of chairs with oversized 'pocket objects' displayed. Photos on a wall will lure the viewer near to the photo. On the floor lies a photo collage showing the ambience of the room that belongs to the chair photo. The collage on the floor consists of eight single photos that create a larger image of the space around ones feet.
The oversized 'pocket objects' and odd viewing angle on the wall photo's are chosen to create a sense of disorientation. The floor collages are fitted together in a nonchalant manner. While actually the photo's are carefull enscened. The light when taking the photo's enhanced clutter on the floor to a higher level. As a result some observers feel an instinct to remove the trash in the photo. Most of Mathilde µP's works circle around chaos and humanity and are not seldom inspired by pop-art. In her staged works valueless objects are depicted as desirable items.
