The Damned concert at De Kade, Zaandam (Netherlands)

A sunday afternoon punk concert in a local village may sound weird for a band that invented 'helios fobia'. The Damned founded in 1976 is one of the biggest names in punk history who flirted with vampirism before gothic culture existed. Their heavy drama-enriched sound inspired many to follow their example, while in style the band always used to be a mix of weirdness. While Dave Vanian used to be a twinbrother of Dracula, Captain Sensible was more into provoking punks themselves. Nowadays, Dave looks like a sleek fifties pimp and the captain is makeing more and more sense. At the end of the show Sensible boosted in the microphone "We are the Sex Pistols. Thank you!". The concert lasted a full hour and was a mini trip back in time; seeing my favorite band in a small club.
